Open Letter
Dear Sunny Dia, Jon Dan, Johnny Kamer & Jonah,
I just want to thank you for making our home interesting. Thank you for coming by for meals on a regular basis and for your relatively common sleepovers. I’m sorry your mothers and fathers are either nonexistent or on long-term vacations. I hope we’ve been able to provide the love and warmth that may be lacking in your biological families.
Also, there will come a time when Abby will stop inviting you over so much. The supper invites will dwindle and eventually the sleepovers will end. It’s inevitable, time passes, imaginations wane and children grow. But, you will be missed. Greatly. Please still come by sometimes. Even though we may not be as exciting as our daughter, we love you too. And, one day, just as she won’t be needing you as much, she won’t be needing us as much either. Perhaps on those days we can sit and have a cup of tea together and long for the days that were.
Yours truly,
Abby’s Mom and Dad
