In the realm of things that just don't seem fair:

A coworker retired at the end of December 2007. Her last day was December 21st. We had a party for her and sent her off with best wishes. Her husband hadn't retired yet but she was hoping her retirement might tempt him to do the same.

He died of a heart attack earlier this week.

It surprizes me how often I hear stories like this one. I had a co-worker who retired and died suddenly two months later. After committing so much of our lives to work it doesn't seem right. My heart and prayers go out to your co-worker

That was very much like the funeral I went to yesterday - very sad. Kind of inspires me to make the most of each moment we have.

I always thought when my dad retired it was *so* early. But after 4 years of busy retirement and then hearing a story like that, it makes me glad he chose to stop & enjoy life his way. Have as many naps as you like dad!

That is exactly why we moved....the whole Now or Never saying just really is so very true. We are not waiting for our retirement years to live our life to the fullest.

Now or never!
