Abby's heard our discussions about where we might have to adjust our budget. And then at supper the topic of school supplies comes up (the flyers came in the mail, Abby noticed the adverts) and Abby says that maybe she doesn't need a lunchkit. Maybe she could just stick her lunch in her backpack.
And then we're upstairs and the very first song that she requests on itunes goes a little something like this:

A Bible story comes to mind
That helps me see the way
God's children held in slavery
Cried "don't you care, Lord?"
"Don't you see?"
God showed his power and set them free
And God listens to you and me**
