And so they're gone. With a rush (too rush) trip to the airport and quick "good-byes"we suddenly became a family of 4 again. It's been a good year. Looking back there are things I'd do differently and definitely things that were disappointing but I'm not sorry we did it and I do think it was a good experience for our family. Plus, they're both coming back to live with us again in the fall and Abby has asked us to write what date on the calendar so we're looking forward to the break but looking forward to the return as well.

To the attention of the parents of...

Well, there it is. In the mailbox in a plain enough envelope.

And now I, like millions of parents before me, am filled with that combined mixture of excitement and dread and sadness.

Two conversations just before bed

Abby (whispering in my ear): Mom, when Dad tells a secret he says "cha cha cha". When *I* tell a secret I say "I love you, Mom". Which one is better?
