Reason #238 why I won't be able to homeschool* this kid

She'll be smarter than me** by the second grade.

Conversation in our house last night:

Abby: Mom, what sound does a cow make?
Mom: Moooo, mooo.
Abby: What sound does a sheep make?
Mom: Baaa, baaa.
Abby: What sound does a kitty make?
Mom: Meooow, meooow
(Hey, I grew up on a farm, I'm pretty good with these ones.)
Abby: What sound does a seahorse make?
Mom: [stunned silence.]

crickets chirping.

* Not that I was planning to anyway but whatever.

** Or should be "than I am"? - Just trying to prove my point I guess.

Thursday Thirteen

(Because I need to jot some of these down and here is as good a place as any.)

Thirteen Abby-isms
1. Zimmer = living room
2. Scarf = apron
3. Scooby = excuse me
4. My fine = her response to "do you have to go pee?"
5. Updowndairs = upstairs (downstairs is just that, downstairs)
6. Cake = snot
7. Meeker = music
8. Bernie = Bert & Ernie (hey, she's a time saver)
9. Eminano = Emiliano (her boyfriend from daycare)
10. Pay dot = play doh
11. No something in there = nothing in there
12. Cudder = colour
13. With = an unnecessary word. That is, "Mom, cudder me" or "Dad, pay dot me"

Hey, she's trying.

Update (due to Becky's comment): Yes, we will be working on the "zed". Believe me! (She learned the song at daycare. Perhaps we should switch daycares.)

Who needs an alarm clock?

I would say for the past two weeks we have been woken every morning about 10-15 minutes ahead of our alarm clock by a tiny, squeaking voice calling out "Mom & Dad's bed?".

One of us wanders to her room, she gathers her bear and cow in her arms and off we go to our bed for a few moments of family sleep time.

You know, if it weren't so close to our rising time anyway (and if we weren't so completely and totally smitten with her) we'd likely try to break her of this habit.
